Scope
The 45th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (IEEE ICDCS 2025) is the premier international forum for researchers and practitioners to present, discuss and exchange cutting edge ideas as well as the latest findings on topics related to all aspects of distributed computing systems. IEEE ICDCS 2025 will feature an Industry Event track in conjunction with the conference, which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, from July 20th to July 23rd, 2025 (https://icdcs2025.icdcs.org/). The Industry Event track aims to bring together practitioners and researchers in the Distributed Computing Systems and Distributed Artificial Intelligence (AI) domain to promote knowledge sharing and innovation across academia and industry.
The theme of the IEEE ICDCS 2025 Industry Event track will be: ‘Where Distributed Computing meets Artificial Intelligence‘. Having largely evolved as separate research fields, there is substantial overlap in application areas between the two domains (Distributed Computing Systems and Artificial Intelligence), as well as the methods that are used under the hood in real-world distributed systems. We are looking to promote further cross-pollination between these two research fields by sharing practitioner experiences and insights of where they align, and where they differ. Applications may cover Distributed Systems or AI in various domains and applications. We also encourage presentations of research works carried out during student internships and showing how interns contributed impact on real-world products with innovative ideas. We welcome contributions presenting research and development results in the general areas of Distributed Computing and Distributed AI & Applications.
Contributions can be related to, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) for Distributed Systems
- Distributed Systems for AI/ML
- Distributed AI/ML, Federated Learning & Distributed Analytics
- Distributed Systems, Applications (e.g., LLMs and RAG Deployments) & Infrastructure
- Big Data & Big Models
- Cloud, Edge and Mobile Computing
- Internet of Things & Cyber Physical Systems
- Trustworthy AI
- Blockchain & Distributed Databases
- Distributed Computing System in Energy & Manufacturing
- ML/AI Scheduling
- ML Compilers & Runtime
- Distributed and Parallel Learning Algorithms
Industry Event Paper Submission
The Industry Event papers from both industry and academia focus on advancing the understanding of issues related to deploying Distributed Computing Systems for AI at scale. This track concentrates on applied work, such as describing the implementation of a system, white papers, data acquisition, or application of a methodology that addresses a significant real-world problem and demonstrates measurable benefits and impact. We invite authors to submit papers that showcase their research work’s real-world impact and demonstrate practicality and scalability. Submissions should outline how the work has been deployed or released and for how long, or how the work is planned to be deployed or released and what is its potential impact in the real world.
All submission papers should follow the IEEE 8.5″ x 11″ two-column format using 10pt fonts and the IEEE Conference template (downloadable by selecting “Conferences” in the IEEE-Template Selector https://template-selector.ieee.org/). Each submission can have up to six (6) pages (including figures, tables, appendices, and references). Papers exceeding this page limit or with smaller fonts will be desk-rejected without review. The paper review process is single-blind. All accepted industry contributions will be included in the IEEE ICDCS-W companion conference proceedings. For each accepted submission, at least one author is required to pay a full author registration and attend the conference in-person to present their work on-site. No-show paper will be reported to the publisher and removed from the ICDCS-W conference proceedings.
Note that the authors must adhere to ethic and professional standards of IEEE. Please refer to IEEE Code of Ethics and IEEE Policy of AI-Generated Text.
